Discovering GeekShare: Unique Gaming Accessories and Mousepads

August 10, 2024 0 Comments

A Brief Introduction to GeekShare

Founded in 2016 and based in China, GeekShare is renowned for its wide array of gaming accessories, including protective cases, thumb grips, carrying cases, and mousepads. Their products are designed for various devices such as the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam Deck. What sets GeekShare apart is their commitment to high-quality materials combined with playful and unique designs, often featuring collaborations with popular franchises like Sanrio.

Spotlight on GeekShare's Mousepads

One of GeekShare's standout products is their collection of mousepads. These mousepads are not only functional but also add a delightful aesthetic to any gaming or work setup. For example, the Cat Ears Big Mouse Pad is a popular choice, celebrated for its cute and practical design. These mousepads provide a smooth surface for mouse movement, ensuring both durability and comfort during extended use. The average price for GeekShare's mousepads is around S$25.50 (US$18.99).

On average the products are relatively affordable but not exactly cheap (cheap), so of course when I saw the Cat Ears Mouse Pad and the Kawaii Pink Large Mouse Pad on sale, I bought them. Who doesn’t love a good sale? The Cat Ears was from Lazada, while I got the Kawaii Pink Large (and one with a wrist rest) Mouse Pad from Amazon during Prime Day for S$14.40 (US$10), the usual price on the website is  S$26 (US$18.99).

If you are interested in the Cat Ears Mouse Pad, you could check out Lazada or the Geekshare website itself.

I also got the wrist pad from Geekshare during Amazon Prime Day. Doesn’t it looks so cute? 😄

Diverse Product Offerings

Beyond mousepads, GeekShare offers an extensive range of accessories:
  • Protective Cases: Keep your devices safe with stylish and durable cases designed specifically for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation controllers, Xbox controllers, and more.
  • Thumb Grips and Button Caps: Enhance your gaming experience with ergonomic and decorative thumb grips and button caps.
  • Carrying Cases: Transport your gaming gear in style with GeekShare's thoughtfully designed carrying cases.

Where to Find GeekShare Products

Goblin TechKeys: Revolutionizing Custom Mechanical Keyboards

August 08, 2024 0 Comments

I've been seeing Goblin TechKeys a lot on Instagram lately. They have a really interesting concept where they offer customization for your very own set of keycaps!

The concept intrigued me and I did check out their site once some time back, and honestly the shipping was more than US$20, which kind of scared me off.  Recently, I took a look again at the site and realized that on average normal shipping (via NinjaVan) actually costs about US$13 (S$18), which is still not too bad considering you would be getting a set of customized keycaps (and maybe a keeb?). 😆

What I did not realize was that they have an office in Singapore (there is another location in the US)!

About Goblin TechKeys

Goblin TechKeys started in 2022 by offering mass-produced, anime-inspired keycaps, keyboards, and desk mats. They then pivoted to personalizing keycaps, keyboards, and desk mats to revolutionize workspace setups.

With a passion for customization and a commitment to excellence, Goblin TechKeys has certainly made a niche for themselves. They might not be the cheapest option, but it is reasonable for having your very own unique set of keycaps to call your own.

Product Offerings

Key Switches

One of the flagship products of Goblin TechKeys is their extensive range of key switches from Akko, Gateron, Outemu, TTC etc.). Whether you prefer the tactile feedback of a Cherry MX Brown or the smooth linear action of a Gateron Red, Goblin TechKeys has a switch to suit your typing style. The average price for a set of key switches ranges from S$8 to $11+ (US$5 to US$8+), depending on the type and quantity.

Keycaps

Keycaps are where personal expression truly shines in the world of mechanical keyboards, and Goblin TechKeys offers a plethora of options. They even have a designer engineer to help you in the process of creating your very own set of quality PBT keycaps. Of course, they also have already designed unique designs for you to choose from should you not want to design anything yourself. The average price for a set of customized keycaps ranges from S$108 to $380+ (US$80 to US$280+).

Custom Keyboard Kits

For those looking to build their own keyboard from scratch and truly call it your own, Goblin TechKeys provides high-quality keyboard kits. These kits include everything you need to assemble a fully functional mechanical keyboard. The kits come in various sizes, from compact 60% boards to full-sized layouts, catering to different user preferences.

You can also to further enhance the personalization by choosing your own switches and custom keycaps. Otherwise, there are also ready options from you to chooses from which you also still call your own. The average price for a a barebones kit ranges from S$95 to $205+ (US$70 to US$150+).

Accessories

In addition to switches, keeb barebone kits and keycaps, you can also customize your very own deskmat!

Innovation and Quality

What sets Goblin TechKeys apart is their detail to personalization.

Goblin TechKeys is more than just a mechanical keyboard company. Whether you are a newcomer looking to build your first custom keyboard or a seasoned enthusiast seeking the latest in keyboard technology, Goblin TechKeys is a brand worth exploring if you are looking to personify your personality and style.

Keycap Series: LittleCutieDesign Review

August 06, 2024 0 Comments

Coming from China, LittleCutieDesign has a store on Etsy and mostly does keycap designs based on 3D modeling. Besides artisan keycaps, the shop also has curated keycap sets which you can find on other platforms such as Taobao, AliExpres, Shopee or Lazada, for much cheaper.

What stood out was the vast design genres available on the Etsy shop: there are sweet adorable animals and food, and also cool sci-fi metallic or punk vibes. There is surely one keycap which would suit your sense of aesthetics.

One thing to note is that not all the keycaps or keycap sets are that unique (similar designs can be found on Shopee, Lazada, Taobao etc...) for much less. So if you really want to know if you are getting your money's worth, then you would have to do your research and compare prices across platforms.

Of course the dog themed keycaps caught my eye and I was sure I was not able to find them somewhere else for that price, particularly with the "free shipping" and the promotion they had for a customized keycap.

They were having a sale and delivery to Singapore (from China) was “free”, so I got a Husky keycap and a custom made keycap of my pet dog - a golden retriever.

The golden retriever keycap was custom made so that took a while longer (almost 2.5 months). The process was where I had to send photos of my dog to make sure they were able to capture it all on a little keycap. And that was it, there was no further communications or mockup of the final product before production so no changes and you have to accept what is given.

For just S$65 (US$48~)with free delivery it could be considered a good deal… except that the quality is really subpar. The final product was poorly made: the clay was not evenly cut and exposed the from corners of the keycap, the paint job was could have been slightly better too.

Unboxing

Maybe my expectations were too high, but overall I was not too satisfied with the final product, which is a first time this has ever happened. Although exchanges are excepted within 14 days of delivery, it's too much of a hassle to handle the shipping back (and paying for it), I decided to keep this little piece of disappointment.

At least it was not all bad, the other Husky keycap looked adorable and met expectations. It seems to be out of production at the moment but for around S$55 (US$40~) it was not too bad since delivery to Singapore was “free”. But if you want a similar style you could check out @shirouu.kaps. Although it costs more, the experience should be better.

Artist Info

  • Style: 🧚 Fantasy/ Nature-Inspired / Gaming / Anime / Food 🍲
  • Pricing (per keycap)an average of S$15 to S$80 (US$11 to US$60). Keycap sets costs much more.
  • Shipping to Singapore: Free
  • Shipping Internationally: depends on your location but should be reasonable (or free)
  • Wait Time: Out of all the purchases I have made so far, the wait time for just creating the keycap was the longest since I had an order for a customized keycap. It was more than a month, about 2.5 months before I received the keycaps.

💗 Loves

💗 Variety (but do your research to make sure you are getting your money’s worth).
💗 Reasonable shipping price and overall pricing for some keycaps.

💔 Not so much

💔 Poor communication (or rather lack of communications).
💔 Unevenness of the keycap and disproportionateness.
💔 Poorly made for the customized keycap.
💔 Lack of quality control and assurance (this is echoed through some of the reviews on Etsy).

Remember to compare prices and shipping costs across different artisans and platforms to find the best fit for your budget!

Have you gotten any keycaps from LittleCutieDesign? If the answer is yes, let me know in the comments below what you loved (or not) and what did you get!

IINE Athena Controller: A Comprehensive Review

July 30, 2024 0 Comments

Today we would be diving into the world of gaming accessories with a detailed review of the IINE Athena Controller. I was fortunate enough to win a giveaway done by IINE some time back.  This sleek, innovative controller has won my heart and so here is a review on it because good things must be shared!

Let’s explore what makes the IINE Athena a must-have!

Unboxing

Sleek Design and Aesthetics of the IINE Athena Controller

First impressions matter, and the IINE Athena Controller doesn’t disappoint. The design is both modern and ergonomic, ensuring it feels as good as it looks. Available in a creamy vintage white and hints of a purple grey, the controller sports a sleek, matte finish that provides a premium feel. The buttons are well-placed, with a satisfying tactile response that enhances the overall gaming experience.

Superior Comfort and Ergonomics

One of the standout features of the IINE Athena Controller is its ergonomic design. It fits comfortably in your hands, reducing fatigue during those long gaming sessions. The textured grip ensures the controller won’t slip easily.

Unmatched Performance and Responsiveness

When it comes to performance, the IINE Athena Controller truly shines. The buttons are highly responsive, with minimal input lag, ensuring that commands are executed instantly. The analog sticks are precise, providing smooth and accurate control, which is crucial for fast-paced games. The controller also features adjustable triggers, allowing you to customize the sensitivity to suit your gaming style.

Wide Compatibility with Multiple Devices

The IINE Athena Controller is designed with versatility in mind. So it’s compatible with a wide range of devices, such as the PC, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS. This multi-platform support means you can use one controller across various gaming systems, saving you the hassle and expense of purchasing multiple controllers. The controller connects seamlessly via Bluetooth, providing a stable and reliable connection.

Impressive Battery Life

Battery life is a critical factor for any wireless controller, and the IINE Athena doesn’t disappoint. It boasts an impressive battery life, allowing you to game for hours on a single charge - 15 hours (high endurance).

Extensive Customization Options

For those who love to personalize their gaming experience, the IINE Athena Controller offers extensive customization options. You can remap buttons, adjust the vibration intensity, and tweak the analog stick sensitivity to your liking. This level of customization ensures the controller adapts to your unique gaming style, giving you a competitive edge with its macro function settings.

Affordable Price and Exceptional Value

Despite its high-end features, the IINE Athena Controller is reasonably priced. Pricing ranges from around S$40-65 (US$30-50), depending on the platform you get it from and the sales periods. The last I checked Shopee was having it for under S$40, and Lazada S$30!

While it might be slightly more on Amazon, retailing for about S$65, it does come with a carry bag and it could be cheaper when you have voucher or during the sales period. So also worth checking out if the price fits your wallet.

It offers excellent value for money, especially considering its build quality, performance, and compatibility. Whether you’re a casual gamer or a competitive player, the Athena provides a premium gaming experience without breaking the bank.

If you’re in the market for a new controller, the IINE Athena is definitely worth considering. The IINE Athena Controller is a nice controller to have at an affordable price. Its combination of sleek design, ergonomic comfort, responsive performance, and extensive compatibility makes it a top choice to consider.

Keycap Series: A Shopee Guide to Affordable and Good Quality Artisan Keycaps

July 27, 2024 0 Comments

This guide will be about sellers on Shopee selling reasonably priced and quality keycaps for Singapore buyers. The best part about Shopee is that there are vouchers which could be used to discount the final price and the best part is delivery is free (just ensure you remember to download the vouchers).

If you are wondering what is Shopee, it’s basically a shopping platform like Amazon but with pricing closer to Temu. They have an app for Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia, mostly for the South East Asian countries. Besides the (probably) more affordable (cheaper) pricing, shipping is either free or less than SGD$2 (for majority of the sellers). The only downside is that you need a local number and address for each of the Shopee country app.

If you have not signed up for Shopee and want to get S$5 off your first order, sign up 🠊here🠈😊 Alternatively, if you already have an account but have not bought anything yet, you can still get S$5 off your first order with this code 7L6EM9H
Do note that if you are viewing it on mobile it will check if you have the app first, if you do it opens in the app, just click ok and you would get to the listing page. Happy Shopping!

Styles of Keycaps

  • Keycap sets: Perfect if you want to change out your old keycaps or simply want to give your mechanical keyboard a new look without having to buy a new one. Any design you can think of as long as it is not the "normal" looking keycaps and comes in enough pieces to fit your keyboard.
  • Accent Pieces: Usually used on a lesser used key like "Escape" or simply a center piece(s) for your keyboard.
    • Custom: Anything you can imagine is probably able to be turned into a keycap based on your imagination and vision, along with the skills of the artist.
    • Resin/Blanks/Novelty - Based on the artists interpretation and inspiration they create their keycaps and you buy them if you like them from their store or google forms (via raffle sales).

These sellers from Shopee below are ones which I have bought from before and find their designs matching my aesthetics. Their pricing is also wallet friendly ranging from S$5-$30+ per keycap. Hence sharing them with you because sharing is caring. So read on with caution (for your wallet). 😛

If you do find any other artisan keycap sellers with affordable prices on Shopee, let me know in the comments below!

Seller: wowking|Life Technology Digital

Looking for adorable and good quality keycap sets for a reasonable price?  Spy x Family, Sanrio Theme or even the cute bear / cat ears keycap sets etc.. The list goes on...

Spy x Family Design the purple number keys were a mix and match with the Kuromi set

I found this seller on Shopee and tried their keycaps. I got the Spy x Family, Pokemon and Kuromi designs and the quality is not too bad for the price.  The delivery experience was not too bad, taking about 8 days to reach me. The keycap sets survived the delivery process and came in bags.

Seller: Rabbit Keycap Shop

Cute, affordable and the best part is that it is customizable: you can choose the color of the keycaps!

The seller is also pretty responsive to the chat and there are many options to choose from. I've bought from this seller a few times and delivery times are within 6-9 days, which can be considered pretty fast. It is also well packaged and the keycaps came in good condition each and every time.

Seller: happykeycap89.sg

Looking for something more unique and familiar? I stumbled across this seller on Shopee because of the adorable Winnie the Pooh designs! The heart also got my attention.

Here you can also choose your own keycap color and the type of keycap used is different too, it's XDA which give it a different feeling and profile.

Delivery time is slightly longer than the other sellers, taking about 8-12 days but each key is bubble wrapped and in a cute bag too.  Their designs are unique and adorable. Workmanship is also good.

Seller: cherisht27oe.sg
I was just casually browsing Shopee and literally stumbled unpin the sparkly and beautiful keycaps!

Good quality reins keycaps for a reasonable price. The packaging is also good, not only securing the keycaps but protecting them. The seller also has an Instagram account which you can follow!

Keycap Series: July Artist Featuring peache_atelier

July 22, 2024 0 Comments

For the month of July, the artist of the month is peache_atelier, also known as Trish, who is located in Singapore! She is relatively new to the scene but her design aesthetics are uniquely adorable with her attention to details for her creations inspired from food to animals. She mainly focuses on clay creations such as charms, trinkets and has expanded to artisan keycaps. She might be starting out her (adventure) but the designs and detail on her creations are simply worth it.

Shipping (within Singapore) is S$2

International shipping is also reasonable:

  1. Malaysia & Brunei: S$7.10
  2. Countries in Asia & the Pacific (except Australia, Japan, New Zealand): S$9.30
  3. Australia, Japan, New Zealand and the rest of the world: S$11.90

Her keycap creations range from an average of S$13 to S$22+. The price range is appreciated along with the unique and good quality designs. 😆

[Keycap Series: Featuring Artists of the Month

[Beginner's Guide to Artisan Keycaps: Everything You Need to Know]

I first came across peache_atelier on Instagram, and went to check out her creations. 😍

What caught my attention was the delicious looking Capybara Butter Toast. It was simply too cute to resist, and the pricing made it even more irresistible!  Totoro was a little bonus.

Unlike the artists featured so far who have an Etsy store or their own online store, she offers her creations via her Ko-Fi Page and Instagram account. If you are accessing via the Ko-Fi page, just click on the design you want and follow the instructions to check out your latest addition. If it is via Instagram, simply DM her. It is simple and easy (especially for Singaporean buyers since PayNow is also accepted). 😊

peache_atelier  was really fast and responsive, sending out the keycap within 3 working days. In total, it took 5 working days to receive the parcel.

Packaging was sufficient: Capybara Butter Toast and Totoro were snuggly encased with soft cotton and arrived in pristine condition. The cat stickers that came along were super cute too!

The overall experience was fantastic. Aren't the creations adorable and so detailed? 😀

First Look: Flesports MK750 Barebones Kit

July 16, 2024 0 Comments

After getting my first CIDOO ABM066 Barebones Kit Alice-layout, when I saw that the Flesports MK750 Barebones kit was on sale... of course I had to get it. It was from Lazada and about S$50 at the time I got it. You could also check out Shopee or Amazon to see which price is better for your wallet. On average this barebones kit costs S$110-185+ (US$80-140~).

With the vouchers and sales that  Lazada and Shopee have, you might be even able to get it at a better price too.  I don't believe in paying for full price if you I can help it, and always love it when there is a sale. 😆

If you are wondering what is Shopee , it’s basically a shopping platform like Amazon but with pricing closer to Temu.

If you have not signed up for Shopee and want to get S$5 off your first order, sign up 🠊here🠈😊

[First Look: CIDOO ABM066 Barebones Kit Alice-layout Review]

They have a range of colors to choose from: black, pink, white and grey. This time I decided to get a black casing instead of the usual white one. As usual since it was from China, it did take some time to arrive. There was no protection, just the box itself in an envelope. But thankfully it arrived intact, the box was a little beaten but it the keeb survived. It came with a manual guide, cable, keycap / switch puller, and a dust cover! I was pretty impressed since my keyboards before this all arrived without a dust cover, so that add on was very much appreciated.

The Unboxing Experience

Adding the ‘Flesh’ to the BareBones Kit Experience

Unlike the CIDOO ABM066 Barebones Kit, this on was a much more easier experience affixing the switches as the holes are already there and you do not need to make any extra efforts to press the switches down; it just simply clicks into place with little effort.

I believe I have discovered the joys of  customization as I selected a range of Akko Linear Switches for this build.  I used the V3 Crystal Pro (43gf) for the alpha keys, the lighter Jelly Whites (35gf) for the spacebar and non alpa keys, the Pink Gateron (45gf) for everything else.

Typing Experience

For the keycaps, I got some nice rainbow Jelly Poms which look great on the keeb, especially with the rgb. The only downside is the learning to type as even if there side engravings on the keycaps, it increases the chances for typos. The moment I look at the board, all the typos occur and I start to forget which keycap is what and lose my way. 😂

Default Settings and Connecting to devices

Connection to an iPad or Android device is relatively simple, just set the keyboard to Bluetooth setting, and turn on Bluetooth for your device which you want to connect to, press the FN + Q / W / E to pair. The keyboard can be simultaneously connected to 3 devices at a time.

If you want to connect to a computer (Windows / Mac), you also have the option to connect it via the USB cable it came with or simply use the USB for the 2.4GHZ. Of course you have to remember to adjust the keyboard setting for the 2.4GHZ connection.

The USB for the 2.4GHZ connection is nicely hidden away behind a magnetic stand on right hand side.

What I love

💕The ease in which the switches can be installed with little to no effort whatsoever as the holes are already there.

💕 The RBG effects, adds that something special when you are typing. There many default effects available.

💕The build quality is really good and has a premium feel to it. The knob is such a good addition too.

💕 The ability to swap out the switches and keycaps for personalization or a different keep experience is tthe reason why I got it.

💕 The ease to use right out of the box, to connect and start typing  away.

💕 The quality of the build which made my linear switches and rainbow jelly Pom keycaps produce a nice clacky sound.

Not so much

💔 Installing the space bar did take some effort as the board was not 100% straight. But once the right angle was found it was easy.

So, there you go, my first look at and review of my experience with the Flesports MK750 Barebones Kit. Given that the loves are more than the not so much, I’ll say you can give it a try. For those of us located in Singapore, you can get it here for about S$175+ or cheaper when it is one sales from Lazada. Alternatively you could also check out Shopee where the average pricing  is around S$115+.

If you think that the typing noise is too loud you could always swap them out for silent linear switches that would sound not more noisy than the normal laptop membrane keys. There are even silent switches. And at this price, it really is worth a try so that your hands are not strained when you are working for long periods of time at the computer.
