Nutrition Kitchen Singapore: My First 20 Days Low Carb Review and Impressions

After 20 days on Nutrition Kitchen, my first round has officially come to an end. I went into this trial wanting something realistic. Not perfect meals or miracle results, just a service that could save time, reduce mental load, and make eating better feel easier.

This follow‑up post is a continuation of my introduction to Nutrition Kitchen, focusing on what daily life with the service actually felt like, the good, the slightly frustrating, and whether I would do it again.

[Nutrition Kitchen Singapore: A Realistic Introduction to Healthy Meal Delivery (From Someone Who Hates Meal Prep)]

I chose the Low Carb plan, two meals a day, delivered on weekday mornings and cost S$598. Here are my thoughts so far about the experience.

Morning Deliveries: Convenient, But Inconsistent

I opted for morning deliveries, which are meant to arrive early so meals are ready for the day. In reality, delivery times varied quite a bit. My meals arrived anywhere between 6:30am and 8:00am, which is perfect if you already are up by 6am, otherwise it feels a bit like a lucky draw about the timing of the delivery.

Nutrition Kitchen uses a third‑party courier, and there’s no direct way to contact the delivery rider or see the location of the delivery (i.e. the gps location of how far it is from you and when it is really reaching). There's an automated SMS when the food is leaving the kitchen and another when it has been delivered.

On the very first day, I overslept. The food was left outside my door for about two hours, with no knock or follow‑up call beyond the automated message. Thankfully the meals are packed chilled, but it’s still something to be aware of if you’re choosing morning delivery and not always awake early.

When Something Goes Wrong With Delivery

There was one day when the system marked my meals as delivered, but nothing had arrived. It turned out the delivery rider ran into some app issues, but the food eventually arrived around 7:30am.

I had to WhatsApp Nutrition Kitchen to check what was going on. Their official support hours usually start at 8am, but to their credit, someone replied at around 7am, which I appreciated.

That said, this highlights one downside. If you run into issues before support hours, there’s no immediate hotline or courier contact. The good news is that once they do reply, they’re generally responsive and helpful.

One other thing to note is that if you are looking for their WhatsApp number, and you are accessing the mobile version of the side the number is not displayed you have to find it from the non-mobile version site.

Marketing Communication: A Bit Too Aggressive

When you sign up and place an order, Nutrition Kitchen’s marketing communications are quite aggressive. You might to manually unsubscribe from newsletters and WhatsApp promo messages if you prefer fewer notifications.

One thing that genuinely confused me was receiving promotional emails from both Nutrition Kitchen Hong Kong , even though I ordered from Nutrition Kitchen Singapore. The emails were similar but the two websites have different user experiences and pricing, which is confusing as the emails are not explicitly differentiated. Although this did not affect the food itself, it did add unnecessary noise and confusion.

Subscription vs Manual Renewal

I did not want to go with the subscription model as I wanted a littler more flexibility. So I chose to manually renew for another 20 days. This allows me to be able to reassess after each block whether to take a break or continue, rather than feeling locked in. If you’re someone who likes flexibility, this might be worth considering.

Results After 20 Days on Low Carb

Over these 20 days where I have been eating two low carb meals a day on weekdays, I managed to lose about 1.5kg.

I didn’t do anything extreme. No intense calorie tracking, no additional workouts beyond my usual routine. So far, this feels like a steady, manageable change, which I prefer over drastic drops that feel hard to sustain.

Note: Nutrition Kitchen only delivers on weekdays, so weekends were up to me to manage.

Variety: I Never Ate the Same Meal Twice

One thing I genuinely don’t understand is when people it gets boring and repetitive. In my 20‑day run, not a single meal was repeated. Every weekday brought something different.

This is actually better than:
  • Ordering delivery, where most of us rotate the same few dishes from the same stores
  • Batch cooking, where you eat the same meal repeatedly until ingredients run out

If anything, this trial made me realise how repetitive my own food choices usually are.

Feedback & Surveys

About once a week, Nutrition Kitchen sends out a survey asking what you liked or disliked about the meals. I really hope this feedback is used to improve future menus, because it shows they’re at least actively collecting user input, not just delivering meals and disappearing.

The Meals I Had Over 20 Days

All meals were ordered in Small size, priced at S$14.95 per meal. They came in chilled, sealed packaging that was easy to store and reheat.

Portion & Packaging

  • Small portions were satisfying for low carb meals, especially for lunch or dinner
  • Packaging was compact, leak‑proof, and microwave‑friendly
  • Easy to stack in the fridge without taking up too much space

Taste Profile & Overall Experience

Rather than reviewing every single meal individually, here’s a grouped summary based on flavour profiles and consistency that I had over the 20 days.

🌶️ Asian‑Inspired Dishes

Examples include Tom Yum Fish, Taiwanese Basil Chicken, Sichuan Chicken, Beef Bulgogi, Rendang, and various curry dishes.
  • Flavours were generally bold and comforting

  • Some dishes leaned slightly salty for me, but nothing inedible
Average rating: 4 out of 5

🍳 Egg‑Based & Breakfast‑Style Meals

Examples include Poached Eggs with Beef Tenderloin, Egg Bakes, Florentine eggs, and Moroccan poached eggs.
  • Eggs were usually cooked well and reheated nicely
  • Great for mornings when you want something warm but not heavy (but you can get hungry faster)
Average rating: 4 out of 5

🥩 Beef & Lamb Dishes

Examples include Beef Bolognese, Chili, Bourguignon, Lamb Ragu, and Lamb Curry.
  • Generally rich and satisfying
  • Some cuts could be more bite‑sized
  • Sauces carried most of the flavour
  • Little to no gamey taste
Average rating: 4.5 out of 5

🐟 Fish & Seafood Dishes

Examples include Barramundi, Halibut, Mahi Mahi, Cajun baked fish, and Thai fish cakes.
  • Fish was fresh and mostly cooked well and not overly dry
  • Lighter flavour profiles made these easy to eat regularly (but you can get hungry easier since there is no carbs)
Average rating: 4 to 4.5 out of 5

Would I Continue With Nutrition Kitchen?

Yes, and I have already renewed for another 20 days again. So I'll continue observing how sustainable this feels long term.

While there are clear areas for improvement (especially around delivery consistency and marketing communication), when it comes to daily convenience, variety, and nutritional structure, Nutrition Kitchen delivered what I was looking for.

For me, the biggest wins and highlights were:
  • Not having to think about meals
  • Eating something different every day
  • Steady, realistic results

Who Nutrition Kitchen Is (and Isn’t) For

This is for you if…

  • You want a convenient way to eat balanced meals without daily cooking
  • You value consistency and portion control over total flexibility
  • You are managing your weight, macros, or carb intake
  • Your schedule makes meal prepping unrealistic long-term
  • You want predictable nutrition without relying on food delivery apps

This may not be for you if…

  • You enjoy cooking and have time to prep meals regularly
  • You need full control over every ingredient and seasoning
  • You prefer highly indulgent or comfort-focused meals daily
  • You are on a very tight food budget
  • You dislike eating from a fixed rotating menu
So if you’re busy, tired of repeating the same meals, and want a structured way to eat better without cooking daily, Nutrition Kitchen is worth considering, as long as you go in with realistic expectations.

More updates soon.
