Review: Xiaomi Gaming Monitor A24i (Bought from Shopee in August 2025)

Ever since I got my Gigabyte Gaming A16 laptop, I wanted to get an external monitor. So in August this year, I bought the Xiaomi Gaming Monitor A24i from Shopee

After months of using it for work, editing photos / videos, gaming, and binge-watching comfort shows… I can confidently say this little 24-inch monitor is worth it. If you’re looking for a practical, affordable, and genuinely satisfying upgrade, this might be the one.

If you are wondering what is Shopee , it’s basically a shopping platform like Amazon but with pricing closer to Temu. They have an app for Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia, mostly for the South East Asian countries. Besides the (probably) more affordable (cheaper) pricing, shipping is either free or less than SGD$2 (for majority of the sellers). The only downside is that you need a local number and address for each of the Shopee country app.

For international readers, don’t worry you can still join in on the get it from places like AliExpress.

After using it for several months for both work, video editing, and light gaming, here’s my full take on what stands out, where it falls short, and why I think it’s so worth it (especially at the price point).

Price Snapshot: What It Actually Costs & Why the Deal Matters

The average local price for the A24i in Singapore is around S$110–120, depending on seller and platform. For instance, FairPrice currently lists it at S$111.80. But what caught me by surprise is that Fairprice now sells monitors? 😂

On the Sim Lim Square website (I never knew they had a website), one seller lists it at S$119.

But here’s the exciting bit: during sales or promotions on Shopee, the price can drop below S$100. I’ve seen listings go down to around S$90 or even slightly lower during big sales events!

That means when you catch it on promo, you're essentially getting a 100 Hz IPS gaming monitor for under S$100! For that kind of refresh rate, panel quality, and design, it’s a seriously good deal.

Why It’s Worth It: Beyond Just the Low Price

High Refresh Rate at Low Cost

A 100 Hz panel is smoother than a typical 60 Hz monitor. And at this price point, it’s hard to find that kind of performance without going much more expensive.

IPS Panel = Better Colors & Viewing Angles

Unlike some budget monitors that use cheaper panel types, the A24i uses IPS. This means more consistent color and good viewing angles for gaming, but also for work, watching videos, or reading.

Factory Color Calibration

Each unit is supposedly calibrated (ΔE < 2), which means colors come out more accurate. That’s a big plus if you do any design / content work, or just want nicer-looking visuals. The colors are surprisingly accurate thanks to Xiaomi’s factory calibration (ΔE < 2). For photo editing, content work, or just watching videos, this makes a huge difference.

Slim Design + Practical Build

The monitor body is slim, which makes it sleek and modern on the desk. It’s also VESA mount compatible, so you can prop it up on a monitor arm to save desk space.

Eye Comfort Features

It supports DC dimming and has low-blue-light certification, which helps reduce eye strain during long work or gaming sessions.

Decent Connectivity

You get DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI, making it flexible to pair with laptops, desktops, or even consoles.

Good Local Support

Even though I bought it via Shopee, buying from local / regional sellers means that warranty and servicing are more manageable. And since Xiaomi’s presence in Singapore / SEA is quite strong, it gives me (a little bit more) peace of mind.

Trade-offs to Be Aware Of (Even at This Price)

  • Brightness Is Modest: The typical brightness is ~250 nits. which is fine for most indoor use, but in very bright rooms, or if you like super vivid HDR-style visuals, it may feel a bit underpowered.
  • Limited Stand Adjustability: The default stand only lets you tilt; it doesn’t offer height adjustment. If you prefer more ergonomic flexibility, you might want to use a monitor arm.
  • No Built-In Speakers: No audio on board, so you’ll need external speakers or headphones.
  • Adaptive Sync Not Clearly Documented: Some users online are unclear about whether it properly supports adaptive sync (FreeSync / G-Sync). There’s discussion about this in Reddit
  • Build Stability: The base is light, so the monitor can wobble a bit if bumped. It’s not super heavy-duty.

My Personal Experience (Why I’m Happy With It So Far)

When I picked this up in August 2025 via Shopee, I was mainly looking for a monitor that would serve work, editing and casual gaming without costing a bomb.

  • At work: Scrolling through documents, writing code, managing spreadsheets with the 100 Hz makes things feel more fluid and less jittery.
  • Gaming: It’s not a 240 Hz esports monitor, but for what I play, it’s totally fine.
  • Media & Videos: The IPS panel gives good color and wide viewing angles. When I lean back, it still looks sharp.
  • Long Sessions: Thanks to the low-blue-light + DC dimming, my eyes do feel less tired compared to cheaper monitors without these features.

In summary, the Xiaomi A24i monitor is a fantastic value gaming monitor, especially when bought during a Shopee promotion for under S$100. With its 100 Hz IPS panel, factory color calibration, eye-care features, and sleek design, it offers a rare combination of performance and affordability.

Is it perfect? No, it does have its limitations (brightness, stand adjustability, no speakers). But for the price I paid (and likely what you can catch it for during sales), it’s hard to beat.

If you’re on a budget and want a reliable, color-accurate monitor that works for both work and play, I’d definitely recommend it.
