My First Adventure Playing Genshin Impact: Beginner Tips and First Impressions

I finally decided to give Genshin Impact a try, and honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’ve seen friends talk about it, watched gameplay clips online, and kept hearing how addictive it can be. After diving in, I quickly realized why this game has such a dedicated fan base. It’s beautiful, expansive, and surprisingly welcoming even for beginners.

For anyone new, Genshin Impact is a free-to-play open-world RPG by HoYoverse. You play as the Traveler, exploring the vast land of Teyvat while searching for your lost sibling. Along the way, you meet new characters, fight enemies using elemental abilities, and uncover secrets hidden across mountains, forests, and cities. It feels part fantasy adventure, part strategy, and part anime brought to life.

First Impressions of Genshin Impact

My first few hours were honestly a little overwhelming. There’s just so much to do, from main quests, side stories, puzzles, bosses, and endless exploration. But once I got into the flow, it started to click.

The world is gorgeous, and I loved how easy it was to get lost in it. Gliding off cliffs, solving puzzles tucked away in ruins, and stumbling across treasure chests made me feel like I was constantly being rewarded for my curiosity. It also kind of brought out the hoarding in me, picking up everything I saw for later.

Combat was another pleasant surprise. Swapping between characters mid-fight and combining their elemental powers felt fast and fluid. Figuring out how fire, water, lightning, and ice interact with each other added a fun layer of strategy I wasn’t expecting. It did however have a little learning curve for me since it was my first time playing, but it worked out well.

Beginner Tips That Helped Me

If you’re thinking of starting out, here are a few beginner-friendly tips that made my first hours in Genshin Impact a lot smoother:
  1. Stick with the story early on: It unlocks important features like co-op play and tougher challenges.
  2. Don’t spread yourself too thin: Focus on building up a core team of 4 characters instead of trying to level everyone at once.
  3. Experiment with elements: Combos like fire and water (Vaporize) or ice and lightning (Superconduct) can turn battles in your favor.
  4. Use Resin carefully: It’s a limited resource tied to rewards, so save it for when you actually need better gear or materials.
  5. Take your time exploring: The game really shines when you slow down, climb mountains, glide across rivers, and uncover hidden secrets.

What Stood Out to Me

The thing I loved most about trying Genshin Impact was how alive Teyvat feels. Each region has its own style, music, and atmosphere, which made exploring feel like a journey in itself. Even small things like cooking meals or talking to NPCs gave the world more depth.

Not to mention the characters: each one has their own personality and abilities, and I found myself quickly attached to the ones I unlocked early on.

Final Thoughts

Starting Genshin Impact was honestly a lot of fun. It can feel like a lot at first, but the game does a great job rewarding exploration and letting you learn at your own pace. Even without spending money, I found plenty to enjoy just by taking my time and focusing on the adventure.

If you’ve been curious about trying it, I’d say go for it. Explore, experiment, and most importantly, enjoy the journey! That’s what makes Genshin Impact special.
