For February’s Artist of the Month, I’m featuring it__cap, a keycap artist whose work has been on my radar for a while. Their designs are soft, expressive, and full of charm, and after seeing one particular piece, I finally decided to take the plunge. That piece was Cutie Leon.
About it__cap
it__cap is based in South Korea, and known for creating character-driven artisan keycaps with a gentle, almost storybook-like feel. Their mascot of chose is a cute cat, so there are many cute iterations of it. Their designs focus on expressive faces, smooth sculpting, and carefully chosen colours that give keycap a lot of personality. You can immediately tell when a keycap is made by it__cap: the style is consistent, clean, and thoughtfully executed. On average, an artisan keycap from it__cap costs around US$85. This price point is a little higher than my usual comfort range when it comes to artisan keycaps. However, after seeing Cutie Leon, I couldn’t stop thinking about it, and that alone says a lot. International shopping is US$15, which is about the standard for overseas shipping.
Cutie Leon caught my attention: there was something about her soft expression and sweet colour palette that made her stand out. The design is smooth and rounded, giving the keycap a cuddly and friendly appearance. The addition of the star and crescent moon details along with a ribbon on top gives her a Sailor Moon vibe.
